As a temporary measure to put people back to work, the government has begun a program of infrastructure work. This will not only give paid work for the workless, but will also improve the infrastructure network of Venezuela, bringing the country closer together.

It was with this that Venezuelan Work Orders went underway. The people saw employment, not only working on the roadways but also on the railways to connect our country together.

The railways were more difficult to do, especially the further South the work-force went. Temporary barracks were built in the jungle to house these workers as they continue their tasks, ample food and medical supply being given in response.

As they march down and chop the trees, these trees are transported to logging mills where they will be halved, sawn and cut into planks, further contributing to Venezuelan industry.

Interstate Traffic

It is here that President Betancourt along with the Ministry of Transportation drafted plans for an interstate network from East to West, North to South of the country, connecting each and every major city and roadway together through easy lanes of traffic.

Thousands of workers have taken across the country for this very bold venture, the unemployed now finding work in Venezuelan Highways. It is hoped that by 1937, the rate of unemployment will have dropped by over 7%.
