Following the liberation of Lombardia, and the subsequent Austrian occupation of Veneto, it has become clear to the Republic's command that any unification of the Italian peoples will be opposed in the strongest possible ways. Thus, the High Command have begun making the appropriate preparations, primarily, fortifying our borders with hostile governments. The first of these borders will be with the Austrian Imperialists and their so called "Venetian" puppets. The border between us, from the Swiss border in the north, to the Po river in the south will be fortified, for now with temporary defensive works but shall eventually be set with several defensive lines, starting with blockhouses camoflouged as residential homes, behind them anti-tank blockhouses to slow down any armored assaults, then infantry bunkers armed with either machine guns or anti tank guns, and connected by tunnels, then major fortresses where heavy artillery were stationed, and behind them observation posts and infantry reserve stations. These fortifications will be connected with telephone lines and with ammo and supply depots. However, the fortifications will be built along the Po river border, but not to the same extent as the rest of the border, this will force the Austrians to choose between a heavily fortified and in some areas even mountainous crossing, or face a less fortified but also crossing a river.

The border with the Sicilian government will be fortified the same, however the border with the Roman Kingdom, due to our friendlier relations with them, will be less fortified, due to the fact that Sicilian troops are stationed in the Kingdom.
