It was all squared away; Alfonso was sent to be guarded and rehabilitated from his kingship— A mercy some would say was too good for him— and Salamanca had been saved thanks to the united offensive of the Worker’s Front and of the Republicans.

But what is this? What has happened now? The Germans, not content to let the course of history take place, invaded Spanish Airspace, assaulted Madrid, and of course, got themselves all killed in the process! They shot down our planes, broke into homes, killed our soldiers, and now, Germany has the audacity to ask for the three survivors back?

Look what the reactionary monarchists have wrought upon us. They have oppressed us for centuries, and when we rise up, they instead attempt a harebrained scheme which would never succeed in a thousand years! Do you think now that monarchy anywhere and the working peoples can coexist peacefully? Look what they have done to Frances’ people living in their borders! Look what they have done to Catholics! To their own people! The reign of the Deuvats has brought nothing but pain and ruin. What if they had arisen here, in Spain? Do we not have a sizable population of reactionaries and monarchists? Do we not have Catholics? Moors? Jews? Syndicalists? What would they have done to us! This is not merely a war between political ideologies, but for our lives and our futures.
