Hello everyone, I’m in the medical field, my uncle has been having recurrent renal stones. The main issue is that his treating physician didn’t implement prevention methods, he only advised him to drink plenty of water. Unfortunately, the healthcare system in my country is not well-constructed. So I wanted to recommend him potassium citrate as a method of prevention upon any attack of flank pain. But I feared hyperkalemia if he kept on taking it mistakenly. I know other preventive method which is magnesium citrate, but it is essentially a laxative so it is also risky. So which one do you recommend, I searched online but I found nothing regarding these two drugs, would love to have your recommendations. Thanks
