Everyone wisely pointing out Unity needs the devs and not vice versa, you’re right. But what if unity has decided it’s losing the war and decided to pull some suicidal stunt to suck up as much profit as it could before shutting down or getting bought out? This feels too irrational. Long term, the math ain’t mathing. People won’t stick around and they have to know that. It’s also going to get them into all kinds of legal battles they can’t win with the devs of Pokemon Go, for instance, and Microsoft who they’re saying will pay for game pass installs. I actually think they’re trying to pull the plug here.
