ULPT Request: Neighbor’s squirrel deterrent emits a really painful noise
Post Body

We just moved into a new place that has a really nicely sized yard, especially for the city we are in. We chose the place mostly for the yard since I love to garden and we have a dog. As I’ve been trying to tidy the yard, we have frequently been driven inside by an incredibly painful high pitched noise. Not only does the noise hurt my ears, but it sets my dog off into head shaking and anxiety behaviors.

Today I met the next door neighbor. She’s in her sixties and hard of hearing (important later) so she had to come right up to the fence and I had to nearly yell for her to hear me. I found out the noise is from her squirrel deterrent machines. I explained that the noise is incredibly painful and sets my dog off and she essentially told me I was lying because there was no way I could hear the sound since SHE couldn’t hear it. I explained that I could, indeed, hear it and asked how I would even know about the sound if I couldn’t hear it. I told her I understand the annoyance of squirrels asked if there was a way to come up with a compromise so that we could enjoy the yard that we pay for. She responded “Maybe. But don’t spend too much time outside. I need to protect my fruit.” She also mentioned how she “knows the landlord” of this place in a somewhat threatening manner.

So… How do I get the noise to stop without my neighbor terrorizing us?
