CC Transfer: Computer Science or Applied and Computational Mathematics

Post Body
I am a prospective transfer from a CA community college, choosing between Computer Science (Viterbi) and Computational Math (Dornsife). I am interested in math-heavy computer science: machine/deep learning, computer vision, etc. Looking at the courses for both majors, I would be happy with either one since they cover my interests. However, I feel like Viterbi has better access to undergrad research, prestige, and job prospects.
I have a few questions:
- Does USC admit by major? If so, is it harder to get into Viterbi CS vs. Dornsife? Could I apply for Computational Math and then switch to Viterbi if I'm admitted?
- Will I have a chance at Viterbi? My GPA is only 3.7 but I have great ECs including research, clubs, and internships, awards in coding/math competitions.
Thanks for the help in advance!
