social media perfection kills artists
Post Body

When i was in second grade I met a friend who was really good at drawing (as good as second graders get) and I decided to teach myself to draw because I thought it was a cool and fun thing. But once we started getting older and social media was a thing I saw so many tutorials on “You shouldn’t draw like this” or “That’s not how you should do ‘x’.” It makes people think their abilities aren’t good enough or that they need to “do it right”

Art is what you make it and there is no “right way” to do any art form. Dance can be fluid and smooth or rigid and powerful. The same goes for singing.

I’ve been teaching myself to undo the perfectionist mindset for years. But it still comes to bite me in the ass.
