As per this video by InRangeTV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teI68Q4PUEE
As of December 10th youtube is revising it's policy again, to enable themselves to remove any and all content they see as commercially non-viable. This is a policy change that puts all videos, and all content creators on youtube at risk of losing all content. This policy change could mean that all content that is viewed on youtube could be permanently cut off from viewing by arbitrary deletion. It puts at risk millions of hours of educational content.
I would also like to note that the youtube platform is a platform that is intimately connected with our modern way of life, learning, and information gathering - particularly in the English speaking world, but generally worldwide.
Our only hope of stopping this would be some sort mass boycott, and information raising campaign. Should that fail, I believe that all content creators should back up their videos, and all viewers should begin finding ways to copy/download videos that they deem valuable for preservation.
Feel free to repost this. I don't care about the Karma, I care about awareness being raised to this issue.
