Didn't Daniel eat vegetables for 21 day's? How long should a fast be? Should I consume electrolytes beforehand? Will preparing myself before a fast show how unfaithful I am in thinking God will not care for me?

I don't know considering I only did it because my parent's told me I had to do it during Lent.
I am asking a serious question. What is your purpose of fasting?
The reason Daniel fasted was to keep himself pure and clean in the eyes of God by not receiving food from the Babylon King. So if you fast like Daniel does it mean you're making yourself pure and clean in the eyes of God? Then does that mean we all need to be vegans since Daniel and his three friends only ate vegetables and water so as not to defile ourselves? But even Jesus ate lamb, bread and wine so what foods should we not eat so as to not defile ourselves and once the fast is done we can resume to eating anything thus defiling ourselves again?
This is what I am asking you, what is the purpose of your fast? Are you doing it for yourself or God? If God has asked this of us as service or acts to him then it will be written in the Bible how to fast and when.
