Headache rack vs bulk head for protection

I haul pipe steel I have a headache rack mounted to my truck where I hang chains etc. Does headache rack offer any protection? I'm thinking about getting bulkhead attached to my trailer. I'm a company guy I just told my boss I want bulkhead attached to my trailer I have a feeling he thinks headache rack offers protection I don't need bulkhead. Does my headache rack offer any protection? Am I being extra paranoid been doing flatbed 7 years never paid attention to this kinda stuff till recently I heard beam going thru guys cab. I always strap well no slacking go above and bayond.
