What happens to some characters after they disappear

I don't know if it's been answered already and I'm just dumb but what happens to certain character's when they leave Tokyo?

For example we all know Zabaniyaa disappears after the Missonaries Chapter is over and so are other characters like Tez but what happens to em.

Do they just go back home and chill and we never see them again until certain instances or are they like the Red Oni from the beginning of the story who we can summon whenever we want? Kinda would be sad if I never got too see some of them again cause I really like a few of em and wish they stayed.
