Anyone use insulin needles for IM injections?

Someone told me they use insulin needles into their delts or quads. That makes sense to me, why use a bigger needle when a smaller one does the job? I know you have to warm up the oil to draw it and all, but you have to do that anyway with SubQ. Im just trying to figure out why people use such bigger needles go get into muscles that are right next to the surface. Maybe there is an issue I don’t know about?
