I took a last minute flight down to Knoxville two days ago, stayed at a hotel, and then drove to Tellico Plains for the eclipse. It was a great event held there next to the Charles Mann museum I think it was named. Very cool museum, loved the collections that were on display. Everyone was really nice, food and water was cheap (or free in some cases), and parking was cheap. I really thought as a tourist that I'd get gouged and I was okay with that given the "once in a lifetime" event. Beautiful state you all have there, driving some back roads on the way back to my hotel. I'll be back sometime to spend a proper amount of time visiting. Thanks for putting up with us.
Side notes: I didn't get a t-shirt, they were sold out. Maybe they still have some extras somewhere?
Traffic leaving Tellico Plains to Knoxville was horrible (took me almost 4 hours on I-75 back); sorry about that locals!
