I noticed that the /telegram documents/ directory contains all the thousands of gifs I have viewed through the Gif interface (not just ones sent, but also ones only viewed in the selection interface). To make matters worse, video messages and documents (who'd have thought it) are also stored in this folder.
This is a backup and storage space nightmare. I don't want to store ~2000 videos (about 2.2 GB) that I have never even used. I would delete them but I don't want to delete the video messages that I've recorded and sent, and those received. I'd also rather keep the GIFs that I have actually sent to my contacts. This means going through 2000 files by hand to find the ones I want to keep. File names don't help either, they are all called some variation of a string of numbers.
It seems to me Telegram should only save the gifs you actually send, and it should put them in a folder that isn't called "documents", and video messages should be in a different folder again. Is there any way around this?
