Hi everyone, I’m finishing up my alternative teaching program in Texas and plan to begin applying in May. I’m sure this varies based on district and area, but when do teaching positions typically start?
Let’s say I apply in May. If a public school district hires me in June, I wouldn’t be getting paid/starting work until August, correct?
I ask because my current job is at a small non-profit and I do so many things as part of my role. So there is a lot of planning when it comes to my departure and what things will look like for the next person as well as the institution. So I’m trying to give the best possible timeline to set them up for success, but this is all so new to me.
I’m not sure what to expect when it comes to getting a teaching position as a new teacher and it’s hard to find a good answer online. My ideal position would be 6th social studies, if that helps at all. I’m really just looking for any kind of information when it comes to the application and hiring process! Thanks so much.
