Is dodge flurry messed up, or can I not execute it correctly?

Post Body

So I have played the entire dark souls series and the parry time is very consistent. I don’t see the same thing with this game. I feel like I perfectly dodge a simple swing and don’t get the flurry rush, but for some reason, I dodge after the first swing and get a flurry rush before the enemy even swings for their second attack. It feels very weird and I’m just wondering if anyone else has run into this. Combat is pretty easy but the fact I get the timing wrong so much just makes me feel like it’s a weird dynamic. If there are any dark souls players in here I’m sure they can back me up. Someone please explain this to me, because the flurry rush feels too random to me and has nothing to do with timing. It just has to do with game mechanics. Again, it’s easy either way but could be a lot easier if the mechanics worked right or I understood how the mechanics worked. Any help is appreciated !
