This is probably a pretty odd post.
I play guitar and sing. I've made money for gigs in the past, but mostly it's just a hobby I like. We're going to do a couples weekend soon, and I thought of an interesting conflict here.
One song I've been working on lately I haven't played for anybody, ESPECIALLY my wife. The reason it's a sweet love song, but it's a tear-jerker, and my wife can't bear tear jerkers. If I sang it for another woman, would that be too much? I know, I know, it sounds like nothing compared to actual sex, but my wife had a tough time with seeing me hold hands with another woman, because she viewed that as a very romantic thing, and it just hit her the wrong way emotionally. The love song is written first person to a second person, rather than just as a story, if that matters. My current thinking is, better safe than sorry, and always focus on the effect something has on a primary relationship, but I wanted to throw the question out there and hear what you think.
If you were to sing something like that to Amy in a play setting… she would nope out. I wouldnt even have to tell her it makes me uncomfortable.
