Is Population Increase an inevitability?

Post Body

So I'm at sol 80. Been taking it relatively slow cuz this is my first successful colony. I'm sitting at about 160 colonists.

At this point, I'm no longer bringing in colonists from Earth. My martians are giving birth to enough babies that my population is slowly growing by itself. I've got schools and universities to educate them as much as possible.

But looking at the options that the game gives me, I'm starting to wonder how I'm supposed to control my population. Unless I'm missing something, it seems to me that colonists are going to continue having babies. I'll therefore need to build more domes to house them. More colonists means even more babies, and even more domes in an exponential fashion.

A part from segregating males and females in their specific domes, is there any other way to tackle this? Or does the population growth eventually stabilize?

Comments

I segregate women and men to separate domes to control population. Sometimes a dome has a accidental oxygen shortage... oh noo...
