Towing a trailer question

Hey there. So my 17’ XT came with a 1 1/2?”? Receiver. Plus hookups for trailer lights. Has anyone used an adapter for a 2” to haul a small trailer with an ATV on it? I know I’ll be under the recommendation for towing weight but just wanted to get others experience. Thanks!
