Odds of actually finding this thing?
Post Body

I’ve been intrigued by this saga. I think Cody is doing it for views mostly, and don’t really see anything wrong with that, but what are the odds this thing will be found? It’s a fairly old machine now. There is a decent chance is suffered a major failure and was parted out. Almost certainly the vin/serial number has been removed from it. It’s probably possible to work it out from the serial number on the engine, but that would take access to stuff most don’t have. It’s almost certainly not being used by a company or contractor. It probably has enough hours on it that it’s a farm or personal machine and could very well be tucked in a shed most of the time and not visible from the air or road.

The statute of limitations would be up for those who stole it. Sadly he’s not going to be able to get anyone arrested. It would be cool if he found it and bought it back, as it’s doubtful the thrives still have it (but possible).

One thing it has going for it is that machine wasn’t super common in my memory. Deere didn’t have a huge market share here in Minnesota at that time. Bobcat and case seemed to rule. So that makes these loaders stand out a little more.

Interested to hear others thoughts.
