For as much flak as "annoying" characters such as Min Min, Kazuya, Steve, and Sephiroth get, I feel sometimes that we don't consider the other side of things.
Remember that there are definitely fans of the characters who were beyond delighted to see their inclusion into Smash Ultimate. Seeing how much the general Smash community despises their movesets, and thus the characters, it would probably be very disheartening for fans of those characters to see.
For example, I had a friend who was obsessed with the Kingdom Hearts series and was over the moon when Sora was announced. However, after some of my other friends became annoyed by her Sora, I had to break the news to her about why my friends didn't want to play with her. She was saddened to hear that Sora had already gotten such a bad reputation. And keep in mind, she is not a competitive player. She only wanted to play Sora because she likes the character, not because of their viability or whatnot. Now, she almost never plays Sora as if she wants to avoid annoying other people.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, not everyone who plays an "annoying" character is a competitive sweat or a jerk. There are people who play characters simply because they like the character, and nothing more.
