found on woodchips, low elevation, Willamette Valley, OR, USA - maybe a gymnopilus?
Post Body

My brother thinks it's Gymnopilus aeruginosus which seems to match the descriptions I'm reading in Mushrooms Demystified, but all the pictures I'm finding online look more yellow. The more mature specimens do have a good amount of yellow beneath/btwn the reddish scales though. You can't see it in the pictures, but the stems are hollow. Any help much appreciated!
