A client I've only met once just reached out saying that when he saw me, he had a great time and left with a smile on his face, sure he'd want to book again soon. However, when he got to his car, he took out his phone to send me a thank-you text and noticed the time was exactly one hour after when I'd sent him my room number.
He said this "naturally" left a bad taste because it meant I'd obviously been keeping track of the time. He also went on to say that with his now-retired ATF they both had so much fun together that they always went "a little over" their time by 20 or 30 minutes and he had hoped to find that sort of warmth and graciousness again.
Of course, he's willing to schedule if I agree to not "watch the clock" and instead let the date unfold naturally.
I declined.
But this has inspired me to run a poll here to see if most people define "clock watching" as giving the client the full amount of time they paid for (but no more) or if it means appearing to want them to leave as soon as possible, or something else. Please comment if your definition is different!
