Cultist and Banshee

I just recently unlocked these two and I must say, they seem pretty weak freshly unlocked. Unless I'm using them wrong.
What cards do you pair with them to enhance their attacks? I noticed Banshee inflicts venom damage so I was thinking she'd fit nice with Earth Elemental and Plague Doctor.
No clue with cultist, I had my board full of level 3 and 4 and it seemed like I didn't do much damage on floor 6 (45 mil).
