Hi there reddit. So the quick story is I sublet a room in a house. I always pay my rent on time and in full. My time here has been, rough to say the least. For the past couple months we have not had a working refrigerator. It does not get cold, it's cool at best and the freezer it's colder but nothing is frozen in there. I have since stopped purchasing perishable foods. I have text messages showing when I told the master tenant about the issue. I was told maybe a month ago a repair man was supposed to look at it. I do not have the homeowners contact information because the master tenant refused to give me that information. He's a real power hungry piece of work. From the quick Google search I did it doesn't look like landlords are required to provide a working refrigerator by law. I am in California. My question is who can I complain to? As you can imagine it's a little more than inconvenient and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the master tenant is trying to force me out. Moving is currently not an option and as I said my rent is always paid on time and in full. What rights do I have here?
