Tone/sound quality...aulos...

I've noticed playing my aulos (221a) tenor, its kind of airy?? And I don't seem to have that issue with my either my woodi or moek tenors. So I'm not sure it its me of the instrument...
Also sometimes have a hard time hitting the upper most notes- anyone else sometimes just have things not cooperate ?
