Happy new year everyone! I hope it is truly a bright and beautiful year for every one of you 💛

Today I tried a rambutan (/ræmˈbuːtən) for the first time and really liked it! It looks like a sea urchin, or alien larva according to my daughter lol, before you peel it to reveal the smooth fruit underneath.

Rambutan is a medium-sized tropical tree that also refers to the edible fruit produced by this tree. The rambutan is native to Southeast Asia and is closely related to several other tropical fruits like the lychee (thank you Wikipedia!)

They said it tastes sweet with a hint of sour but I honestly thought it just tasted like a peeled grape (also similar in texture one you've unlocked the inner fruit).
