Generally I work from midnight to 8 AM but this was a day (night?) off so I was sleeping the night away in my comfy bed! Next thing I know I was laying in bed in the early morning where I'm suddenly awake and have opened my eyes! "I think I woke up dead", I'm thinking to myself! And lucky thing it was that I was thinking to myself since I was alone in my bed! But I looked around and it seemed as though I was in my regular real world and I'm doing some more thinking: "Wow! I'm not dead! This must be one of my luckier days! Gotta do some lucky stuff today to take advantage of my luckyness!" As I flung myself out of bed I decided to go check for mail! Sometimes mail-getting is one of my luckier tasks! "But wait" I'm thinking! "Better put on some street clothes! Don't want anyone seeing me outside in my jammies with the cute teddy bears on them! Might make other people envious that they aren't out there in teddy bear jammies!" So I threw on some street togs, including my winter wear since it's winter, and headed out into the wild white wonderful world of winter! "Appropriate day to look all wintery since it's winter" I'm thinking as I look around at the snow covered trees and ground. That's because I live in the northern hemisphere on the flat Canadian Prairies and wintery snow and other wintery stuff is a given here! Live right in the centre of the North American continent! And directly south of the Arctic, so cold weather drifts down on us from early autumn (and also the fall season) to spring! Bone chilling to say the least! Maybe I'll write to someone in government and ask if they can't turnip turn up the temperature a bit so it's not so chilly!

Heading to my mailbox, I didn't see any wildlife doing their wildlife thing at that time of day. "Must all still be sleeping in their little or big beds depending on whether they're little or big", I'm thinking! "Hope all you wildlife critters had a good Christmas and didn't party too hard." Arrived at my mailbox and lo and behold my mailbox was brimming full with envelopes! "What wonders await!" I pondered! So I quickly gathered up all the envelopes and headed back indoors! I began to collect my courage in order to face the anticipation of opening the envelopes I had scooped up from my mailbox! "Who knows what lurks inside these envelopes" I say to myself!

And I was not disappointed and not made afeared! Teasing open the first envelope, I found a Christmas card from u/Pen06 that can be viewed here. It's a very clever portrait of an owl sitting on a clothesline with his mittens and a stocking! Now that's a fact I did not know until seeing this card! Didn't realize owls had mittens and stockings! Wonder if all the naturalists are aware of that? I'll have to give someone at the Naturalist Foundation or whatever they call themselves a dingle on the phone and find out! And there's presents sitting in the snow! Now I've seen owls during the winter season but this guy has the right attitude, wearing a toque! A very Canadian thing to do even though he's not in Canada where this was authenticated! The picture doesn't quite capture the glitter in the snow and on the owl! Shame! The owl looks very wise with his huge eyes and is probably one of those 'wise old owls' I've read about in literature! And in books, too! Great card and love it!

Second card was from my very good friend u/brooklynlad! This is an extra big card and it's really unique as seen here. The twelve days of 'A California Christmas'! I'm loving it! The photo isn't terribly clear, so here goes from top of card to bottom: A California Quail in a Pear Tree; Two Best Burritos Ever; Three Days In Disneyland (wish there was a Disneyland in my neighbourhood! I'd be Disneylanding all the time! Spellcheck doesn't like the word 'Disneylanding' but everyone, who's not as stupid as Spellcheck, knows Disneylanding is the stuff you do when you go to Disneyland! You go to Disneyland to do some Disneylanding!); Four Full Freeways; Five Golden Poppies; Six Yoga Teachers Teaching (doesn't say what they teach, but being the brainiac that I am, I imagine they teach Yoga); Seven Wine Grapes Growing (we don't have wine grapes here but we do a lot of whining); Eight Yosemite Sunsets Setting; Nine In-n-Out Burgers a-Waiting; Ten Fog Banks Rolling; Eleven Vegans Vegging and Twelve Redwoods Reaching! This is the most appropriate Christmas card I've ever seen of a region where someone lives! I'm in awe and super thankful for receiving this card! And brooklynlad wrote a full page of interesting stuff in the card (hand-writing is stunning to say the least) along with a really fun-filled hand-drawn Holiday Season piece of art! Thanks for the time and effort put into this card! Just starting an album with all the cards I've received from RandomActsofCards folkies this past Christmas and this is gonna be card one on page one because it's so special! And you're sure a special person! Super duper thanks brooklynlad!

And another great card! This time from u/walkinnature! The front and back pics of the card show snowpeople (that is to say snowmen and snowwomen) doing snowpeople things that snowpeople obviously do! Although I don't claim to have even seen any activities like this going on in my neighbourhood! Must be something that only occurs in the area where walkinnature lives! Good to know that I'm not the only one who experiences weird happenings in their life as this card so clearly shows! And the inside of the card is filled, and I do mean filled, with Christmas themed stickers! Walkinnature obviously went on a stickering frenzy! Likely frenzied themselves into needing a cold shower! And I got some freebee stickers as well! Well, when I woke up not dead today, I just didn't realize how lucky I'd be until now! Thanks for this grate great card!

On to card four I trek! This time the card is from my very good friend, and partner in crime if we ever decided to do some criming, u/Mikepenpal6! Spellcheck seems to be having a little bit of a hissy fit over my use of the word 'criming'! Hey, Spellcheque, it's what someone does when they go out on a crime spree! Look it up in your Criming Dictionary, for pete's sake! Every household has a copy of the Criming Dictionary! It's an essential! By the way, u/Mikepenpal6, I'm going to check in with the folksies (oops, there goes Spellchek again) in authority who are in charge of promotions and see if I can't get you promoted to u/Mikepenpal5! If that's okay with you! And no thanks needed! Got a really nice card that's doing a lot of jingling all night! Well, with me working most nights, jingle all you want card because I won't be there to witness such unseemly spectacles and practices! And again, another stickering frenzy going on inside the card! And lots of nice wishes from Mikepenpal6, soon to be Mikepenpal5! Since you asked about my Christmas plans, as did other inquiring folks in their Christmas cards, I better fess up! Christmas eve I was working the 1600 shift at the place where I tend to do all my working and we got to depart the place, and also got to go home, at 2000 hours! That's because it was Christmas eve and the company where I work closes everything down early Christmas eve so everyone can go home and do some Christmas eve stuff! So respectable guy that I am, I went home and did some Christmas eve stuffing at my place on Christmas eve! Everyone where I work got Christmas day off (Me too!!!) and then I had to go back to work just before midnight Christmas night because I worked midnight to 8 AM Dec. 26th. It's Boxing Day Holiday on the 26th here in Canada but we have to work at my company on that day because that's when they start ramping up whatever the company where I work tends to do! I work at a railway! So I suspect my company does a lot of railroading! And not much else! And there's some really cool Christmas wishi tape (or whatever it's called) in the card as well! Another keeper!

This next card is from the lovely u/stephkempf! Now, I can't personally vouch first-hand that stephkempf is lovely, since I've never met this person, BUT stephkempf does lots of lovely stuff at RAoC and therefore and in conclusion they go about doing absolutely lovely stuff and are lovely! And they do it in a very lovely way! Always see stephkempf skittering about RAoC doing her loveliness! And stephkempf mentioned in their card that they put up their tree in Nov! And I'm thinking, "Where the heck is this Nov place located on the map where stephkempf sets up the tree?" Looked it up in the Not About Criming Stuff Dictionary and apparently Nov is a shortening (not the stuff you use in cooking) form of November! Silly me to think Nov was where stephkempf did their hanging out with their Christmas tree! The card stephkempf sent has loads of amazing stuff going on on it: figgy pudding, hot chocolate topped with whipping cream, gingerbread persons (for the politically correct types, of course), jingle bells, stockings, missiletow mistletoe and too much more to dwell on! In fact, I can feel my brain getting overwrought from trying to take in all the card stuff on it! Another great card that I'm gonna slap into my card album!

The next card is from u/onlysnailmail4me! It's a picture of a penguin wearing a toque with a sprig of holly tucked into it! Another card depicting the very Canadian symbol of the toque! No maple syrup or hockey players in sight though! Although I must confess that I've never seen any toque wearing penguins here on the Canadian Prairies! Truth be told, never seen any penguins in my neighbourhood period with or without toques! Maybe we have the shy type of penguins that don't make their presence known! But obviously onlysnailmail4me has herds of toque wearing penquins in the area where they live! The evidence is there on the front of the card! And maybe in the Criming Dictionary as well in the Evidence section! Have to look that up! And there was another incredible card included with the Christmas card! You might want to take note of the 'August has My Birthday' inclusion! Hint! Hint! Well I might be sending them a Birthday card in August but I surely won't be including that new fall wardrobe they're probably wanting bought at that time of year! Besides, I don't even know what size pinafores, bodices, bonnets or bloomers they wear! Just call me old-fashioned!

And the final card is from u/Fantabulous4317! This is a really adorable card of a cute puppy dog with sprinklies (Spellczech is getting really upset with me just because I'm creating my own language!) on his nose! And he's obviously an older guy since he's got a grey bread (Oops! I went dyslexic for a moment!) beard! Maybe someone could gift him some Just For Men haircolour dye for his beard! But doing it in a non-embarrassing way! Fantabulous4317 wrote this beautiful and inspirational line: "I know some people might think it's crazy to send cards to strangers but I think it's magical and it can really brighten someone's day." And there lots of other words of wisdom written in the card! Very touching! That is, touching in a figurative sense that is appropriate in our coronavirus ravaged world where we're not allowed to come into contact with one another!

Oh yeah before I forget! One last thank you shout out I want to mention! And that's to the local John Deere Supply Centre for the catalogue included in today's mail! I'll keep you in mind if I'm ever in need of a combine harvester or swather! Might come in handy to own one if I want to make a quick trip down to the grocery store! Really appreciate the John Deere Company thinking of me and my potential needs! Maybe you should send a catalogue to everyone at RandomActsfCards in case they have need as well of a combine harvester or swather! Just a thought!
