Hi all. I've been living abroad in Taiwan for the last 10 years. Due to financial limitations, I've only been home to the US once 8 years ago. Well, in 2019 I got a great new job that pays for a flight home once a year! I was so thrilled to finally go home for Christmas for the first time in more than 8 years-- I really want to see my grandmother before she passes, as I was unable to make it home in time to see my father or grandfather when they died.
Then of course, covid-19 hit. And while things are really good and safe here in Taiwan, it hit me hard that not only will I not get to go home for Christmas this year, but I don't know WHEN I'll get to go home again. I don't know if I'll get to see my grandmother again before she passes. It's been a tough pill to swallow. My fiance and I are getting married next year and we know that none of our family members will be able to come and join us; we've accepted this, but it's hard.
On top of that, I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and have been in and out of the hospital over the last 3 months. I'm just feeling down, and Christmas time is when I usually get the most depressed living abroad. Would you be willing to send me a holiday card here in Taiwan? It would be great to feel the spirit despite being so far from home for yet another year.
Many thanks in advance.
