Hiya all,
This is going to be a somewhat long post, so thank you if you take the time to read it :D
Here's the background story: This year, in NYC, The World Stamp Show is happening from May 28th to June 4, 2016. It happens once every 10 years! So what a perfect way of celebrating my dad's birthday by taking him there! His birthday is May 10th and he turns 71 this year! Recently he moved out of the house as my parents relationship as come to an end. (Peacefully, friendly, mutual and all around okay, so no sadness there.) Now that he's adjusting to living on his own after living with family for over 40 years, he has started to collect stamps again! (I must get this collection obsession from him!) My dad and I haven't really had the best of relationships in the earlier years (I'm not THAT old, but still) In recent years, him and I have really worked to mend it and respect each other for who we are and now I'm pretty close with him. My family in general isn't the best at showing we care, well. We're all just awkward about it. It's how we roll. So I cannot express how SUPER excited I am to do this for him, because 1.) He'll never guess! 2.) He's going to freaking love it! (excuse my french) and more reasons along those lines!
Since I've joined this subreddit, I have saved every stamp off every envelope to give to my dad on his actual birthday, and present the rest of his present, the fact that we're going to the World Stamp Show! I have a sketch book that I have displayed each of the stamps on, so it doesn't look like a bunch of ripped envelope scraps to give him!
Anyways, my actual REQUEST from all you wonderful, lovely people are birthday cards for his birthday with a cool stamp on the envelope/postcard! Note, I am not asking you to send additional stamps what-so-ever, but what better way to open a TON of birthday cards from all over the world, with stamps he can remove from the envelope and add to his collection?! (My mom told me he has a process to remove stamps from envelopes/paper, so not to worry there!) So please, if any of you would be willing to send my Dad a birthday card with a cool stamp from your country, I would REALLY REALLY appreciate it, and in return, I will be sure to send a card/postcard in return! I really just want to make this a SPECTACULAR birthday for him! Thanks in advance!
TL;DR- Dad's 71st birthday, May 10th, Birthday cards/postcards with a cool stamp from your country, please and thank you and I will return the favor!
comment below so I can PM you all the details :D
P.S. I might be more of a hound on this one than others, because I really just want to wow him!
