I recently started doing postcard swaps and looking for pen pals, and my 5 year old daughter is SO curious about the entire thing. We've been to our post office to buy cool stamps, she helps drop the letters in, she's gone stationary shopping with me, etc. But I think she's still generally confused why people would write to each other when they can pick up the phone or Facetime. I'd love to help inspire her to take up this hobby (with supervision) but also cheer her up. It's been a rocky start to the summer - we had to leave daycare, I work from home, and she's kind of lonely and bored until Kindergarten starts. We're also trying to get her excited about reading and writing in general in preparation for back to school.
I say all of that to say - I would absolutely LOVE for her to receive some surprise mail, and we would respond in kind! She can really take creative ownership of the process and it may make her feel more connected to people and excited about all of these new things! :)
I would be grateful for any help in this endeavor and she'd love to receive anything. (Getting mail in 2023 is very novel!) But her interests are mermaids, cats, ninjas, hiking, camping, swimming, nature, typical Disney stuff, and rainbows. TIA!
