Why do you believe in the Bible?
Post Body

I’m sincerely looking for different perspectives as I’ve been dealing with a crisis of faith for some time now.

I was taught that the Bible is God’s word, it’s fact and we should follow its teachings diligently.

When I ask “why” we should accept the Bible as a perfect document that conveys God’s word, the response that I always get is some variation of “because the Bible says so”.

I’m sorry, what?

Since when is a source plausibly and realistically accepted as proof of its own veracity?

Even most confessions need to be verified.

Given the writings themselves were done by men, the curation of which books to be included in the final product was done by men, the multiple translations were done by men and the interpretation of what it all means is done by men, it’s hard for me to turn ignore the many points of failure all of this represents and simply accept it as Gods perfect word for humanity, just because it says it is.

I’d love to hear why you believe in the Bible. All sincere responses are greatly appreciated.
