This song is probably the winner of the entire Volume 5 Soundtrack.

This song is so sad in how it show's the perception of Ilia's Parents was distorted from her time in the White Fang

The song opens on such a kind hearted and intimate tune and even the beginning lyrics are ones of parents teaching their child that even though she was born in a world where she would be treated horribly for something she couldn't be changed about herself but they teach her that even though she may not be the same as them or as privledged as them she's got every right to live her life how she wants.

What makes it sad is where her perception starts becoming distorted when the chorus begins. It starts off normal with, "Show them how you smile it's only for a while, take what you need..." but then the song's tone changes with the next lyrics of the chorus and even the vocals become distorted slightly showing where the original message has been changed and corrupted by her brainwashing from the White Fang.

This song can even easily be a metaphor for two things Ilia's character deals with Homophobia and Racism with lyrics like, "They refuse to look beyond you skin.", "You pray that their hatred is waning", and "When the time is right to end the lie" the last one can be looked at as both Ilia pretending to be human but you can also look at it as LGBT people who are still in the closet pretending to be Straight because their afraid of being abused, rejected, or hurt by those who might not accept them for their sexual preferance.

Just serious kudos to Casey and Jeff for this amazing song and how nuanced it is!!!!
