Ceiling ventilation hatch leaking: permanent fixes
Post Body

Hey y'all,

So I live full-time in an '88 Fleetwood Jamboree, been doing so for around 4 years now with, all in all, pretty minimal complications. However, one problem I've got that I just can't seem to shake is a persistent slow leak coming from the corner of a ceiling ventilation hatch directly above my bed. I got crazy with the LAP sealant and that seemed to work fine for quite a while, but with the recent freeze here in the PNW starting to thaw it seems like the ice opened something back up with my sealing cuz she's dripping again. I never open this thing up... ever since I bought my rig the fan has been missing from it anyway.. and while in the short term I'm just gonna climb back up and hit it with a fresh round of sealant next dry day I get, I'm now pondering ways to just cover the whole thing up as a more permanent solution... What would y'all recommend? Could I just bring a little piece of sheet metal up there and bolt it over the hatch? Would that actually solve my leaking problem? Is it just something thats going to require pretty consistent resealing? Advice and experience would be appreciated! Thanks!
