I'm a backpacker and I'm planning on going to Puerto Rico between some bigger trips. I'm hoping to go to PR on the cheapest budget possible, so I'll probably be haunting this site a lot. My main focus when traveling is camping and wilderness, so comfort is something I am willing to sacrifice for the sake of the greater experience.
My first question is what are the cheapest food options on the island? From what I've read food on Puerto Rico is a bit pricey. I've heard prices everywhere from $20/day to $40/day. If I were only to eat for sustenance where could I go to save the most money?
In the past I've had luck with street vendors, small restaurants and discount markets. Are there things like this in pr? What would you recommend for the cheapest food options?
Street food delicious and cheap. Food is not expensive there. You will do fine
