Releasing GV number. What should I know?

Fi SIM should be here in a few days. I requested a new number, therefore my old GV number will be released.

-Under My Account->Your personal info->Phone numbers, I have my GV number listed. Should I delete it before activating Fi?

-Under GV settings, I have my GV forwarding to Google Chat and two other phone numbers. Should I delete those forwarding options before activating?

-I use Hangouts to text with my GV number on my computer and phone. How can I separate GV and Hangouts so I don't have problems using my new number?
