I find Hero Forge's price structure pretty greedy and predatory for downloading digital minis. For a handful of cartoonish tools available, the price is just insulting. $20.00/month for 5 digital files when you're not even giving me enough tools to design 100s of varied minis to begin with. I'm irritated as hell that I wasted time designing a handful of minis only to find out the 14.99 price is only if you sign up for a year. Go fuck yourself Hero Forge.
I'm way rusty on my skills, but I was art major in college for a year and did a bit of paid graphic design and video production work. I was an IT consultant for many years so I can navigate tech fairly well. If I have to I will design my own damn minis in Maya.
So, can anyone suggest a good modeling program with a lot of presets maybe in beta or alpha coming out to rival HF in their humanoid dominance of the minis market?
If I'm going to HAVE to use a modeling program without a solid library of presets to build my own, which one is the fastest and easiest to use to streamline the process for someone who is completely new to 3D modeling and doesn't need insane resolution greater than what HF offers? (I'm a pretty decent clay sculptor and I can draw with "barely" passable photorealism.)
Thanks in advance.
P.S.: If there isn't a solid HF alternative with preset libraries, anyone wanna start a reasonably-priced 3D minis corporation? I mean they're basically just printing money over there.
