Summary: A long-term Space Western story wherein a woman joins a man on the frontier for a new life.
Everything below just an idea and not set in stone.
Humanity has broken free of the prison of gravity and overcome the vast void of space to find new worlds to call home. However, the move into this new frontier has not been easy. Many planets are rough and inhospitable. Their environments must be tamed in order to make life more bearable.
___
I had arrived on this world about ten Terran-years ago. It started off as a contract working in the mines, like many get their start on Jackal. It was good work for a man like me. I came from a heavy-grav planet and looked the part: big, burly, and hulking. I could swing a pickaxe all day. However, I had the good sense to not drink away my savings or waste it in the brothel. At least, not too often in either case. I saved my earnings, however paltry, and used them to purchase a piece of land.
During my years in the mines I had come to appreciate Jackal’s beauty and potential. The air was breathable without any assistance and the temperatures were tolerable. The place was merely dry and the world had existed without the touch of life until humans made their presence. The land was cheap and so I bought a fairly large parcel and dreamed of introducing life to the land and creating a homestead.
Hard work had shown some progress. The land produced more than enough to feed myself and sell. The land was becoming less barren overtime as plants took root and the colonization of a different sort took place.
Though despite the joy my successes brought me, it is still a lonely life out on the homestead. Fresh sprouts and a full field does not warm a man’s bed at night or fill his home with life. So, I turned to the colony’s company for assistance. I asked them to send me a woman.
It was a pretty common practice. The frontier tended to call men more than women and companies knew that to create places that would last and pay out that they needed families. I met with an agent and gave my requests. I asked for someone young and healthy, someone who wasn’t afraid of a little work and hardship, and, perhaps most importantly, someone fertile and open to having a family - preferably a big one.
The agent grinned and said that they would do their best to find someone who met my requests within the year. We shook hands and I returned home.
Women who ended up in arranged marriages, for lack of a better term, came from a variety of backgrounds. Earth had strict population controls. It was hard to get permission to have any children at all. As a result if a woman longed for a family it was easier to start somewhere new. Some wanted to go off to the frontier themselves, but perhaps did not have the qualifications to make them tempting hires for the companies. Or, perhaps they wanted the bonuses for agreeing to settle down even if they were a terraformer or genetic engineer. There were stories of girls coming from less savoury sources. Orphans with nothing to their name would be scooped up and sent out. Some were those who got into bad debts, a company might buy the debt and send them off. Darker rumours spoke of kidnappings. I had heard they sometimes engineered the women to better suit their future husband’s requests.
As I sit on my porch and look at the stars and Jackal’s three moons shine in the sky I wonder who might be sent my way. As the night wore on the sky lit up with comets. The comets burned up in the atmosphere to give Jackal more water as part of the settling and terraforming process. That said, it didn’t mean it was any less pretty.

That’s the general idea: a couple who come together on a harsh world to build a new life, to help make it more habitable, and to grow a family. I’m open to changing what the male character does and the nature of the planet if you have ideas.
I wanted to leave options open. Perhaps this colony has attracted people who are religious and more conservative and they have very traditional ideas about marriage and family. Or, this could be more like the arrangement I listed above, or the male protagonist could be looking for a fellow researcher to help make life take better hold on the barren planet. Your character could be a specially engineered breeder who needs to satisfy her genetic urges to be fruitful and multiply. I am open to more than one female character as well.
If there is a distance between them I’d like it to ultimately develop into a romance. They come to appreciate things in each other and so on. I’d like impregnation and pregnancy to play a prominent role in the story.
Writing Style: First or third person is acceptable. Please write properly, and generally I like to see a couple paragraphs at a time, but it doesn’t need to be a novella.
If Interested: Share with me your thoughts about your character, give me a sense of who you/she might be and any kinks you’d like to emphasize/include. If you have any thoughts to the cause feel free to share. I like to write long-term, narratively driven RPs with characters we care about that allow both of us to explore our kinks.
You can find my DPP Profile here which has more information about my kinks and preferences.
