Inspector says sump pump should drain to the main sewer line but that seems wrong. Any other opinions?
Post Body

I live in Chicago and while doing a gut rehab I had the rough plumbing done professionally. During the inspection the inspector said the sump needed to be plumbed into the sewer line, the professionals I had hired for the rough (who are great and work in Chicago but are based in the burbs) disagreed.

I'm now at the sump installation point and I want to do the right thing both from a code perspective and just best practice perspective. Can anyone advise if I should actually plumb this to the sewer line like the inspector said to do?
