Post Body

My plants are stringy, discolored (red plants are turning green), covered in brown algae (diatoms?), and melting.

Parameters 114gal tank pH: 7.0, ammonia: 0ppm, nitrites 0ppm, nitrates 0ppm. Inline CO2, approx 2bubbles per sec. Fully planted from the started. FX6 filter. 2 twinstar LED SP running 10am-8:30pm.

I dose with Easy Green, Seachem Flourish 2x per week. Water change 1x per week. Any advice?

Easy green has…a lot. Just about every thread on here that I’ve read suggests using it since it covers all the bases. Maybe I should add it more than 2x weekly?

Also I should add I put in API root tabs once a month.

Makes sense!

Thank you for this! Truly. Your tank is gorgeous. Looks like I’m talking to the right guy! (Or gal). I’m sure I can use all the help I can get. I have a vision for the tank but the learning curve to achieve it isn’t as steep as I thought.

So you suggest opening the tabs and spreading spreading the fert over the sand?

Yeah, I have aqua soil in mesh bags, and a half inch to an inch or sand on top of that.

Thank you. I’ll look for that fert! That’s a good point about the substrate. I may need to remove everything and try to mix some small pebbles in with the sand for a less dense material.

I have Carib-Sea eco complete substrate. I’m adding API Fertilizer root tabs monthly, I think about 10.

Another note, I have 3 large pieces of driftwood and the substrate is Carib-Sea eco complete capped with pool filter sand.

Gah! I will up the fertilizer dose rate. I have 3 large pieces of driftwood in already
