Im unsure how to navigate this situation. I recently connected with one of the staff members at my local Planet Fitness Initially I was excited he approached me to work out together and chat. Id low key had a crush on him for a few weeks. Quickly into chatting it became apparent he had some personal issues. Dramatic stories about exes and what not. He shared he’d been planning how to approach me for weeks and sometimes watched me at the gym. Red flags for sure but he was cute and I was riding the high of my gym crush talking to me, so when he asked for my number I gave it to him. Later that night after exchanging a few texts he came on pretty strong, nothing offensive but clearly he thought the door was open to flirt heavy. So I decided to look him up on the FB page I follow for women looking to see if the men they date are taken, etc. in my city.. First post that came up was his mugshot. Registered sex offender for acts with a child under 15. I was horrified. I managed to friend zone him hard over text and he eventually stopped texting me. This was last week and I haven’t been to the gym since. Im shocked that planet fitness would hire a registered sex offender given the physically vulnerable nature of a gym environment. I’m uncomfortable but I love my gym… Thoughts/opinions/advice on how to deal with this uncomfortable situation welcome.
