Being queer is NOT something that you “learn” or “convert to”. Either you are or you are not. This basic ignorance it the root of the problem here. These people truly believe that their children can be “turned gay”. For this reason, they oppose everything and anything even remotely related to the LGBTQ community. That includes visibility, equality, normalization, etc., otherwise the gay might rub off onto them.
