Is it common for kids to refer to other parents as Miss (Smith)?

Post Body

I noticed at the park and with other moms I meet and talk to that they refer to themselves as Miss xxx when talking to my child or other children. My toddler is 16 months so he can’t talk yet. But still I find it weird that so many moms do this?

In my mind Miss xxx is saved for teachers. I would want other kids to just call me by my first name and have referred myself to other kids in the park as just My Name. Like if my kid met their husband, would he also call them Mr. xxx? That seems so weird to me!

I had a neighbor that wanted me to call him his first name and it made me (a child at this time) feel sooooo weird

I always called home Mr. First name as a compromise but it felt alien and I hated it
