Who else here is poly? I’m not necessarily poly (yet) myself, but I would like to be. My reasons are - who else doesn’t just need to have their human needs met without all the drama. It’s a natural thing and why put all kinds of drama onto something that is just a biological function and need? If any one else here is tired of the drama and the games, why not be ethical and honest about things? At least it’s an interesting conversation starter.
We are all connected. We are the most social species after all. I have a lot of things going for me and I’d like to make more friends. FWB would be a bonus but no benefits isn’t a deal breaker because I’d like to meet people and just be myself. I have other interests such as political, spiritual, artistic ambitions, boating, life skills in general, etc., but I’d like to meet other safe people, almost any arrangement is fine for a 1st meeting in a public place - say: coffee or just walking thru a grocery store talking and shopping works too. If you’re frustrated with all the preconceptions of what human relationships or friendships entail and the fear or dread of how others are strange and possibly dangerous, well, join the club. Let’s just visit for a few minutes in person and have real conversations. I’m not starved and I’m not flooded either with illicit escapades. I was raised conservative republican and Christian but within the last decade I’ve evolved beyond those narrow parameters and now being 55 I’m experienced and wanting to connect with others. Female friends preferred but I’m not closed to making new guy friends either.
I’m not necessarily dead-set on being polyamorous either if the right person were to come along. Being ethical is of the highest priority to me, meaning: Not having secrets about who we’re friends (fwb) with (if the conversation were to go there that is.) I take this value from the old book “The Ethical Slut” (1st published in 1997) . . you can even read it for free on openlibrary dot org . But with all the cheating and betrayal we’re all wary of, my motivation is to just be myself, not be boring, and make a friend or two in this life.
One last note : your age is not important to me. We all have much to offer no matter what stage we are in this life.
