For Me it was when I was in Baghdad Iraq in 2003, with the 135th Mp company. The week of “The Game” we had a bunch of Generals Visit us. There was a 1 star that was from Ohio and was talking to all of us and asking if we were excited for “the game”. Someone made a comment that we probably wouldn’t get to watch it. (We slept outside a palace, but it had a theatre that they broadcast the armed forces network). I made the comment “if you told our leadership you were coming to watch the game with us, we would be able to!” He laughed and moved ahead of us in the chow line….
Then sometime during the week we were told that a “higher up” was coming here to view “the game” because of the theatre and we would be given that time to watch it with him.
Come game day we walk into the theatre and there was a huge spread of snacks, drink and everything you could want besides booze. It was awesome. The General never showed up. He did exactly what I joked about. He told them he was coming so we would get the chance to watch “The Game”.
In full transparency I can’t remember if they watched “The Game” or was even die hard Buckeyes, but that would have been the last time 2 Soldiers in our company watched the Buckeyes, as they gave their life for Our country and our State a few weeks later. 1 trying to save the other. I am fairly sure they were, but I don’t want to speculate or embellish it at all.
Even though we lost it was a moment of Buckeye Brotherhood in a terrible, stressful environment I will never forget.
Go Bucks!
And Rest in peace Sgt Reese and Sgt Bates.
So many memories but i will name a couple
2001 Tressels first year QB Steve Bellisari was suspended due to DUI and they started unknown QB Craig Krenzel. Jonathan Wells had I think 120 yards at half and lead OSU to an upset win over TTUN. It was memorable for me because i was 12 years old and it was when i really became an official die hard Buckeye fan. Also, had my first beer that day. My uncle was in town and talked my dad into letting me have a Little King
2018 Urbans last Hurrah, i was working a double shift thanksgiving day and browsing eleven warriors came across someone selling two tickets. I jumped at the chance and was able go attend THE GAME for the first time in my life. The crowd intensity was unlike anything I've been apart of in all my times attending games. We slaughtered them and ruined their "Revenge Tour" it was total bliss
Go Bucks lets keep adding to the memories
