I'm playing a fictional league (as the St. Louis Cardinals) and I have an aging pitcher (shoutout Matt Karas). He's 37, now rated as 1.5 stars, gives up a ton of home runs, and just simply doesn't have it anymore. He's also a free agent at the end of this season, and eats up $17,000,000 of my payroll. I'm tired of having this guy start, but he refuses to be demoted, has a no-trade clause, and there's no room in the bullpen for him.
Anyways, he just went down in the middle of a game with back spasms (day to day for 5 days). Would it be considered morally wrong to shelf him on the 60-day IL so I get an extra roster spot? I know this is a stupid question, but he's also been on my team for 16 years and has great leadership qualities. Should I bite the bullet and essentially let him go?
