Nursing and DIDDs
Post Body

Iā€™m a LPN in TN and I work with the DIDDs program. Iā€™m realizing that not a lot of people let alone the nursing community know much about what DIDDs is. I know that the healthcare field is short staffed in general but this field is extremely short staffed. DIDDs is TN department of intellectual and developmental disabilities. The field I'm in staffs adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities homes with caregivers, whether that means they need a DSP or a Nurse. The individuals live in a home they rent with up to two other roommates who also require care and we as staff assist them with their ADLs, administer medications, take them into the community and to any appointments they may have. I love what I do, the individuals are wonderful and its a rewarding job. I guess my reason for posting about this is to find out whether other states have a program like this? I am currently considering relocating and would love to stay in this type of work.
