Hey, I wrote this. Still getting polished down, but I thought I would share it to encourage people this morning. Open to title suggestions if you got a better one

Nonbinary (or Twin Stars)

I am twin stars.

We are all made of starstuff after all.

I was just made from more than a single one.

My atoms resonate at different frequencies.

There is a vastness in “I”

That cannot be contained

In lace and teacups

Or in rippling muscles and sweat.

Some days I am a honeybee–

Trundling slowly through the chive blossoms in my garden.

Some days I am 1980s rage–

Stuck on the same level as arcade sounds taunt me.

Some days I am the sizzling taste of onions and garlic–

slow roasting in hand-forged cast iron.

Some days I am the smell of crushed mint–

Bonfires, night air, and the end of summer.

But all days,

All days I am this–

I am twin stars spiraling.

Ever tugging on each other in a universal dance.

Ever losing a bit of themselves to the other.

Ever majestic.

Ever chaos

Ever raw.

Ever changing.

​

How could language from a single time,

And a single place,

In a single planet,

In a single galaxy,

Ever capture that in a single pronoun?
