How are there still laws in places like Texas preventing the sale of alcohol before noon on a Sunday?

Yes this just happened to me. Again.

Like are there really a bunch of prudish Christian lobbyists sitting around going "Huehuehue no one is allowed to enjoy themselves during THE LORD'S TIME"

Like I'm usually not even trying to drink that early, I'm just out grabbing groceries and trying to grab some beer for later. Or hell, maybe I want to get a little wild and have a mimosa or two. Why is that anyone else's business? Can they just not accept the fact that some people don't go to church or aren't Christian?

I can even understand "dry" areas, preventing the sale altogether. Fair enough. But choosing arbitrary times doesn't make sense when you could buy the alcohol beforehand and drink during that time anyways.

Basically I just can't find a good answer as to why it is still this way. I know I'm probably in the minority that is affected by this, but it happens to me a lot, and I always feel like I'm treated like a criminal for being so bold as to grab an item on their shelf at 11:45. "Sir I need to take that from you," like damn, sorry, I forgot about this silly rule.

Am I missing something?
